Boilermaker Race Group, Birnie Bus and Fleet Feet Sports Announce Partnership for “Birnie Boilermaker Bus Service”
Syracuse runners will be able to ride bus from select locations, including Fleet Feet Sports, Clay, to the Boilermaker Race
Syracuse, N.Y. – The Boilermaker, in partnership with Birnie Bus and Fleet Feet Sports, have once again teamed up to offer a transportation alternative for Central New York runners who will be running in the Boilermaker race on Sunday, July 10.
On race day, runners will have a choice of two (2) locations to catch the Boilermaker Bus Service at 5:30 a.m. and be taken right to the Boilermaker start line. The Birnie Bus Terminal located at 7309 Northern Boulevard in Syracuse, and Fleet Feet Sports located at 4136 State Route 31 in Clay, have been selected as the two pick-up and drop-off locations for the 2016 year. Tickets for the non-stop, round-trip are priced at $20.00 per runner.
“Birnie Bus Service has been a long standing transportation partner of the Boilermaker Road Race, offering pre and post race transportation services to all runners. It only made sense to expand our offerings to running clubs and individual runners with round trip motorcoach transportation from Syracuse to Utica. Not only is this a convenient service for all runners but it will save time and parking challenges,” said Tim Birnie, President, of Birnie Bus Service.
“Fleet Feet Sports is proud to be a partner in offering a safe, reliable alternative for our running community, in which runners will be able to focus on the race ahead, without worry,” said Ed Griffin, owner, Fleet Feet Sports, Syracuse.
More information and details about the service can be found at http://boilermakerbusservice.com/. Runners will be able to register and purchase tickets on the site to ensure that they have a seat. Buses will leave at 5:30 a.m. from each location and will leave Utica to return to Syracuse after the race at 12:30 p.m.
About Boilermaker 15K
The Boilermaker 15K Road Race was established in 1978 by Earle C. Reed. Reed was looking for a way to give back to the community that had supported his family’s business, Utica Radiator (ECR International). Earle convinced his father Bob Reed, President of Utica Radiator, and the company’s Treasurer Jim Benson, to underwrite a new local long distance road race, which Earle dubbed “The Boilermaker.” The first Boilermaker was run on July 16, 1978.
